Quiz 2: May 31


1)Say as much as you can about the three sets of set theory.  Give one example of a  set (any of the three) you find anywhere in Acts
Help: for the first two sets see this, for the third set see very bottom of  this.


2)Summarize any learnings from The Southern Stairs/Power to the People video we showed on   5/22
(Answers; see yellow section here)

3) Short definitions:

• metanoia (repentance); "change of mind" (literal meaning) and  "change of direction" (remember the U-Turn stories)
• temple  (place that was the locus and focus of God's presence on earth)

Part A

From the N.T.Wright video we showed on may 24 (watch it here, clips 1-6):
1)Define "Kingdom of God/heaven"
2)Did Jesus come to restore the Kingdom in Acts 1:1-11?
3)What is the sign-ificance of the ascension?
4)What are three possible answers to "where do heaven and earth overlap/interlock"?
5)What is announced in the first half of Acts?  The second half?
6)Where is earth's "control room"?
7)What is "apotheosis"?


Part B

Read Stott's chapter 4, but especially page 104-105, and last paragraph on p, 124  Talk about his threefold strategy of Satan.
Do you agree that this threefold strategy is found in the text  of Acts?  Discuss.
Does this makes sense of your experience?
Do you see any way his three points agree with/collate/relate to Kraybills' analysis of the three temptations of Jesus?

 


Extra credit:
Read  the Acts 6:1-7, and read  Stott TOP OF PAGE 21, and decide is it really  "cultural tension" or "social administration" that is a deeper problem than "cultural tension" .Or is it the other way around?
Discuss.
